Program Overview

The DPS Advanced Academics website is newly redesigned for the 2021-2022 school year. The Family Resources tab has details on our district AIG Plan , information about AP classes, suggestions for course selections, articles about supporting advanced learners and more.

We offer more than twenty different Advanced Placement courses at Riverside High School in every academic discipline, cultural arts, and world languages. Students participate in rigorous, collegiate level classes and may earn college credit if they choose to take the AP Exam at the end of the school year.

Our Engineering Magnet Program is a nationally recognized PLTW Program of Distinction. Students must apply to the magnet program and take one course each of the their four years of high school. All PLTW courses are college level courses.

Advanced Cultural Arts Courses

Riverside boasts a highly talented and skilled cultural arts department robust offerings to advanced learners. Students may audition for advanced levels in the following courses.

Additionally we offer AP Studio Art and AP Music Theory.

Students may also continue their studies in visual art, photography, theatre arts, and tech theatre with a portfolio and teacher recommendation.

Advanced World Languages

We offer advanced courses in all of our World Languages. Students may earn an extra half point on their GPA for taking level 3, 4, or 5 in French, Latin or Spanish. Additionally we offer AP Latin and AP Spanish.

The CCP program provides dual enrollment opportunities for students to take community college classes while still in high school. This includes collegiate level courses and associate degrees so that students may accelerate into careers and college after graduation.
