We believe our students should have access to learning in their high school classes and in the broader community. Most universities expect students to participate in extracurricular activities, learning and service in order to build their skills as well rounded learners and community members. Credit by Demonstrated Mastery (CDM) allows studetns to accelerate their learning by earning course credit by demonstrating their mastery of the content instead of completing the class in a traditional setting.
It is a 2 step process and students must show a rich understanding of the content standards and their ability to apply their learning. Students must demonstrate superior knowledge on both the assessment and the performance task.

The deadline to apply for CDM testing this summer is June 10th, 2022.
City programs for young people to participate in local government and city systems for youth. Highlights include the Changed by Youth ambassadors program which offers paid internships.
A list of all programs offered for people ages 5-24 by Durham County. Highlights for advanced students include resources for arts and culture and recreation and athletics.
A paid summer institute opportunity to learn more about social justice topics. Applications are usually submitted mid spring for summer programming.
Diverse coursework offered in online, in-person, and hybrid classes to give middle and high school students the opportunity to tackle collegiate level content.

Summer enrichment programs to promote college access especially for students historically under-represented in post-secondary education. Deadline to apply is usually March 15.

Summer Ventures has no cost to participate. Summer Accelerator costs between $695 and $1,925 depending on the program.
