Why IB?

Our "Why"

The philosophy of the International Baccalaureate Organization is one that aims to develop students into life-long learners who understand the value of diverse perspectives and are equipped to cultivate a more globally-minded world.

Although IB is an academically demanding program, the IB approaches to teaching and learning support students in meeting their highest academic, interpersonal, ethical, and creative standards. Not only are IB Diploma students viewed as being the most competitive applicants by colleges and universities, they leave high school as more-rounded students who don't just know things, but know how to know things.

What IB Does for You

The IB Diploma Programme is recognized world-wide as being one of the most valuable high school programs in which students can take part. Not only are IB students provided unique opportunities in high school that they might not otherwise be exposed to, IB schools work hard to provide meaningful, well-rounded instruction in order to maintain status as an International Baccalaureate World School. This means that IB students are viewed as being the very best candidates for college and career.

With the competitiveness of college admissions, being an IB student--and even more so, an IB Diploma candidate--helps set you apart from other students. Colleges and universities view IB students as motivated, well-prepared, and worth the investment.

What Duke Says

“One of the advantages of an IB curriculum is its structure and quality. It is a coordinated programme, well established, well known and well respected. We know the quality of IB courses, and we think the IB curriculum is terrific.”

— Christoph Guttentag, Director of Undergraduate Admission, Duke University

What Harvard Says

“IB is well known to us for excellent preparations. Success in an IB programme correlates well with success at Harvard. We are always pleased to see the credentials of the IB Diploma Programme on the transcript.”

— Marilyn McGrath Lewis, Director of Undergraduate Admission, Harvard University

What MIT Says

“Send us prepared students a la IB…It is the “best” high school prep curriculum an American school can offer.”

— Marilee Jones, Former Director of Undergraduate Admission, Massachusetts Institute of Technology
