I hope this newsletter finds all of our North Salem families well.
At NSE and throughout the Dover Area School District, we strive for our students to show P.R.O.U.D. behaviors (Perseverance, Respect, Ownership, Unity, Dedication). Staff is always on the lookout for students who are displaying these behaviors throughout the school day. Students can be awarded a Dojo point for individual PROUD behavior. Whole classes can be awarded an egg for showing PROUD behavior. Eggs are collected throughout the year, with 10 white eggs equalling one golden egg. When a class receives a golden egg, the class earns a reward. There is a bulletin board in the cafeteria that is already filling up with many white eggs and already some golden eggs. We are on pace to break last year's record of 1,001 eggs! I look forward to seeing who will be awarded this year's Golden Egg Award at the end of the year. For the month of September and October, each student will need to earn 10 Dojo points in order to participate in the PROUD Reward for that month. Students will then need to earn 15 Dojo points for the months of November and December in order to participate in those monthly PROUD Rewards.
Parent Conferences are scheduled for Wednesday, November 5 and Thursday, November 6. This is an important time for families to hear about their child's progress. Teachers will be communicating directly with famlies in order to schedule a conference. If you have not received any communication regarding scheduling a conference, please contact your child's teacher or the North Salem Office.
I look forward to the wonderful learning yet to come this school year. Please let me know if you ever have a question or concern by calling the school at 717-292-8071 or sending me an email at cyoung@doversd.org.

The NSE PTO's primary fundraiser for the 2025-2026 School Year will again be a Read-a-Thon. Read-a-Thon promises to be a fun, exciting journey that started on Monday, September 22, 2025. Materials for the Read-a-Thon have already been sent home with students. The PTO encourages you to activate your reader’s account today, if you haven't already done so.
The school-wide goal for the year is $10,000. Should the building reach this goal two lucky students will be selected to slime Mr. Young in front of the entire school.
Prizes will be rewarded based on the number of minutes read, the amount raised, and for participation. Prizes are awarded to individuals and to classrooms.
