•Creating a models texture
• Unwrap
Unwrapping is the act of taking a 3D mesh and creating a 2D net that can then be used to to texture the mesh in a seamless fashion. This stage is important to be done correctly as to prevent distortion and stretching or the model, it also allows you to choose where seems will appear on the texture when applied to the mesh.
• Baking
Backing a model is the act of taking the textures and details of a more higher polycount and projecting them onto a lower poly model. How this is achieved by generating a texture map with information attached to it.
•Texel density
Texel density is the term used for the size of and level of detail in a model. This can affect everything from how blurry or sharp or blurry the object is, it can also cause warping in textures if incorrectly handled.
•Substance painter
• Overview
Substance painter is a program that uses a 2D net of a 3D object to create the texture in real time and is non-destructive as it doesn't actually change the mesh even though it can add details. You can both add texture to the entire mesh as well as painting it to specific parts as if painting a real life model, you can also combine materials that result in a new looking material that is a result of the materials combined to make it.
