Overview:
This competitive program provides undergraduate science students an opportunity to experience a typical day in the life of a physician. Selected students will be matched with a Marin County Kaiser Permanente physician for shadowing during an academic year (October-May). Through these interactions, the mentors will give an inside look at the world of healthcare, medical issues, and procedures, and share recommendations on preparations for medical school. They also will learn about Kaiser Permanente, the interworks of health care, hospitals, and clinics
In addition, this program explores medical specialties through rotations, allowing you to ask questions and explore each field. Rotations may include: Emergency Medicine, Surgery, Primary Care, OB/GYN, Urology, Gastroenterology, Nephrology, Infectious Diseases, Ophthalmology, Anesthesiology, Adult Medicine/Internal Medicine, and Pediatrics. (COVID restrictions may move the program to a virtual format.)
