DELIVERY OF 3RD-PARTY ACCESSIBILITY SERVICES - STEP BY STEP GUIDE
1) Student submits request for service using the ADS services request form
- Service requests must be submitted with advance notice of at least 5 business days to allow adequate time for processing
2) ADS staff submits request to service provider
3) ADS staff confirms delivery of accessibility services via calendar invite to involved parties (typically student and DU staff or faculty)
INSTRUCTIONAL CONSIDERATIONS
Using students' accommodation verification letter (AVL) as a jumping-off point, review plans for instruction taking into consideration the specific known accessibility needs of individual students (e.g. If a student relies on ASL interpretation and students are expected to present in class, how will students communicate with one another?)
Send course materials (e.g., slide deck and an article) to ADS in advance to allow the interpreter to become familiar with course specific terminology
Examine all course materials, both required and optional, considering how students will access those materials and if there are any barriers to access.
Review the syllabus and Moodle, with an eye towards accessibility (e.g., Do videos need to be linked to Yuja for ease of captioning? Are PDFs in a readable format?)
Consult with ADS about any lingering questions or concerns; we are your partners in this!
LOGISTICAL CONSIDERATIONS
In-Person Delivery
ADS staff will share location information with interpreter/captioner through the service provider based on information provided by the student, drawing from Self-Service
Please...
Communicate location changes to ADS in advance, or directly to service provider when changes are made outside of normal working hours
Speak at an appropriate speaking volume with a regular cadence. You may be asked to repeat something you or someone else said
Consider the layout of the classroom/physical space to determine where the interpreter will stand and/or sit, and the optimal location for the student to sit
Remote Delivery
Instructor/Host generates and shares Zoom link for use by service provider and student as early as possible but not later than 5 business days prior to the first instance of delivery of service request and will share link with student and ADS staff

If interpreters or captioner have trouble hearing proceedings, consider alternatives, like having speakers join the Zoom and using microphone-equipped headphones in one ear only which will deliver speaking to service providers more directly
