Dixon is an experienced teacher leader whose work has positively impacted students' lives in Southwest Georgia for over fourteen years. As a STAR educator and former Dougherty County teacher of the year finalist, her emphasis on social and emotional learning has led to success for many of her students in and beyond the classroom setting. Dixon understands the needs of her community and the impact that quality teaching can have on guiding students to becoming productive, self-sufficient citizens. Dixon holds a Bachelor's degree in history and a Master of Arts degree in middle grades education. As a master of social sciences content, she is skilled at developing curricula that promote high-quality instruction combined with real-world experiences that prepare learners for academic and social success. As education evolves, and the needs of students include more than academic support, the role of the teacher leader as a supporter of learner success changes. Recognized as a "40 under 40 Game Changer" in her community, Dixon brings awareness and relevance to other educators on the impact of high expectations paired with high-quality education on overall student achievement.
