APPROACH
Theoretical
This course guides the student in the identification of useful elements to create their personal narrative. Starting with a historic-aesthetic analysis in the field of fashion communication, the students investigate, through an analysis of phenomena, the flow of changes and contaminations that compose the contemporary fashion language and its links with other media.
This course is made of a single module of 6 CFA
Successful students will be able to:
Know the theoretical principles of communication and fashion language
Understand the methodology of fashion phenomenology
Apply all the acquired knowledge in research work
This course analyses contaminations and evolution of fashion communication, starting from the recent past until today. The study will focus on historical elements that belong to fashion communication (including the origins of haute couture, fashion photography, fashion shows and Made in Italy), complemented by the in-depth analysis of codes and communication languages of contemporary brands.
This is a theoretical course. Over the course, the students will carry out didactic activities that are functional to achieving the learning goals, that may vary and, in both modules, may include:
Front lectures
Debates, presentations, peer assessment
Use of multimedia material
Individual study and research
Field trips
Students will have the chance to choose between creating a research book or a multimedia project where images, music, written words, thoughts, literary and cinema references, still lifes can be used as a personal expression in order to let the individual stylistic language emerge, through the knowledge acquired and the stimuli faced over the course.
Assessment criteria may include: Oral exam, Submission of research works, essays or projects.
Further details on the specific tests will be given by the professor.
