APPROACH
Theoretical/project-based
This course sees the application of the techniques previously acquired in the Textile lab 1 and Draping and moulage 1 modules, having as a goal the definition and creation of three-dimensional pieces and prototypes linked to the textile and clothing field. Thanks to the practical experience in the Textile lab 2 module, the students learn textile decoration and handling techniques, such as traditional and digital printing, that, together with the previously acquired techniques, allow for the creation of personal and experimental textile work to be used in the students' clothing collections. The course also includes further study of the draping technique in Draping and moulage 2, to make students self-sufficient in the creation of garments for their collection. The students will also understand how pattern-making changes from working on a mannequin to creating flat (industrial) patterns.
The total credits for this course are 12, divided as follows:
TEXTILE LAB 2: 6 CFA
DRAPING E MOULAGE 2: 6 CFA
TEXTILE LAB 2
At the end of this course, students will be able to show they:
Know and are able to apply techniques of artisanal and digital printing
Manage repeat patterns and modules, making considerations on their use.
Know and are able to choose printing bases in relation to the collection
Put together a book that contains concepts, sketches and variants, as well as the relevant indications for a prints collection that can be used for a fashion collection
DRAPING AND MOULAGE 2
At the end of this course, students will be able to show they can:
Understand the rules of advanced draping
Understand the behaviour of fabrics in relation to a piece, shape and style of the garment in the category of coats
Know how to turn a canvas prototype into a paper pattern
Handle fabrics and drape original and personal pieces in the category of coats
With reference to the project theme, and through front lectures, workshops, and specific revisions:
TEXTILE LAB 2
The students will learn and complete the study of the textile surface handling techniques (including silk-screen printing, block-printing, stencil...), creating a fabric collection with traditional and digital prints, that can be used for a clothing collection and is complete with reference images, sketches, modules, variants and repeat layout.
DRAPING AND MOULAGE 2
The students will study advanced draping techniques in detail, focusing on variants of coats and sleeves, with an in-depth study of collars and closure details. Also, specific attention will be dedicated to the transition from working on a mannequin to flat pattern making (industrial).
TEXTILE LAB 2
This is a theoretical/practical course and takes place in the Textile Lab.
During the course, the students will carry out the following didactic activities, which may vary depending on the projects that will be developed:
Front lectures
Development of individual projects
Individual study and research
Laboratories
Exercises and revisions
Individual sessions and tutoring
Field trips
DRAPING AND MOULAGE 2
