The WILD guides are divided into three topical sections. A list of abbreviated activities is provided for each section.
Select one activity from each section to try. Be sure to complete the activity (i.e., add responses to appropriate Jamboard, etc.).
You can do the activity on your own (as a participant) or try it with a group of students or colleagues.
Once you have completed the abbreviated version of at least one activity from each section (3 total), complete the Activity Reflection.
What's Wild? - lower/upper elementary; explore the difference between wild and domesticated animals.
Urban Nature Search - upper elementary, middle school; gather data about an urban outdoor setting about wildlife and signs of wildlife.
Ecosystem Architects - middle/high school; simulate the restoration of an area to support wildlife.
First Impressions - lower/upper elementary; respond to images of animals and discuss perceptions.
Wildlife Symbols - upper elementary, middle/high school; research wildlife symbols and share why/how wildlife are portrayed.
Learning to Look, Looking to See - lower/upper elementary; students share what they remember from a familiar area then discuss observation skills and apply them in an unfamiliar setting.
Animal Poetry - upper elementary, middle school; imagine yourself as an animal and write a poem about the animal.
Food Footprint - middle/high school; trace components of a food item and determine environmental costs of each step of food production, then present recommendations for sustainable food options.
