The Management of Students with Special Needs (MSSN) Program is one of the services under the School Counseling Office. It is an inclusive type of program for students who are already enrolled in DLSZ. The students who are eligible to enroll in the program are those formally assessed and diagnosed with a neurodevelopmental disorder, as identified in the DSM–V, and who were recommended to enroll in a traditionally set up school with minimal school accommodations.
The program involves a closer home-school-community collaboration. The people involved in this program are called the Individualized Educational Plan (IEP) Team, which may consist of the following: MSSN program in charge, counselors, parents, teachers, doctors, therapists, tutors, and caregivers.
The MSSN Program is the school’s response to the mission of creating a learning environment that caters to the uniqueness and potential of every person. It will ensure that students with special needs have equal opportunity to a Lasallian holistic education, formation, and development.
The MSSN Program’s main goal is to equip the students diagnosed with neurodevelopmental conditions with enough coping and self-regulation skills so they may cope and progress in the general education setup. In addition, the following are the program’s specific objectives:
To aid the teachers, guidance counselors, and parents in identifying if the referred students have possible neurodevelopmental conditions;
To collaborate with the IEP Teams to plan and prepare for the management strategies, interventions, and school accommodations that will be implemented for the students enrolled in the program;
To aid in the implementation of the planned management strategies, interventions, and school accommodations for the students enrolled in the program;
To closely monitor the academic and socio-emotional progress of the students enrolled in the program;
To evaluate the students’ progress under the MSSN program.
MSSN's services are provided all throughout the school year for students enrolled under the MSSN Program.
