Expectations

All students are expected to attend class sessions and arrive promptly with class materials such as assignment notebooks, handouts, and flash drives. Students are required to participate in class discussions, work independently on projects, and may collaborate with other students on larger projects (depending on the class).

Students are expected to treat all equipment carefully and with respect. Failure to follow this rule will result in disciplinary action and may affect final grades.

Students are learning important time management and project management skills. They are in control of their project work and ultimately their grade; the key is for students to aim high and use rubrics to ensure that they earn the highest possible grade. Projects must be completed by the due date unless other arrangements have been made with the teacher. In the event of prolonged absences, projects may be scaled down to allow for completion within a reasonable time frame. On occasion, students may be asked to catch up on assignments by utilizing their Schoology resources, iPad apps, and Google Docs accounts at home and complete portions of their work outside of the classroom.

In the event that a student is having difficulty with a project, the student should ask the teacher for focused instruction in a small group or independent setting either before or after school. This will avoid getting behind or feeling lost on a project. The key is to know when to ask for help. Students are frequently reminded that this extra help or extra work time option is available. If the teacher feels that the student is behind, the student may be asked to come in for additional work sessions to get caught up.

Yes, It's true. Students in video classes may actually need to watch TV shows and/or a movie for assignments involving the identification of shot types and composition.

Students are responsible for backing up all project work using Google Drive and flash drives. In the beginning of each quarter students will be instructed regarding proper backup procedures and receive reminders to back up their work. Please name all flash drives with the student's first name and last name. Also, attach some visual label on the exterior of the device. All materials need to be properly labeled to facilitate returning found items.
