Class Norms

  1. Students should not enter the classroom unless the teacher is present. If she is not in the room, students must line up outside the door.
  2. The teacher will post daily objectives on the board. Students should read the day’s objectives and prepare accordingly.
  3. Students should remain in seats during teacher instruction unless given specific permission.
  4. Students should raise hands unless specifically stated by teacher that calling out is acceptable.
  5. Students should listen attentively to instruction and participation comments by fellow students.
  6. When students leave the classroom they need permission and a pass.
  7. No more than 2 students should be signed out at any given time. Classrooms must have hall passes and a sign out sheet.
  8. Students should not go to the bathroom or get water during class discussion or teaching. If they must go, it should be during work time. Exceptions - emergency.
  9. Students will treat each other and teacher with respect using appropriate words.
  10. Teacher will post class materials in Schoology/Google Drive for student access and provide additional resources as requested.
  11. Teacher must have due dates posted or accessible so that students can easily see what assignments they have now and coming due. (Board, Project Calendar, Schoology)
  12. Teacher will be regularly available for extra help during the duration of a project.
  13. Teacher will provide feedback on a daily basis and graded work within 5 days of completion of a skill check or project.
  14. Students will have creative control over their projects. However, all projects must meet project requirements for content and be school appropriate.
  15. Students are expected to take notes during instruction and teacher will clarify concepts and processes as requested by students.
  16. Students will peer check each other's work and complete self assessments for all projects.
  17. Class closure - students will push in their chairs, put away materials and projects, return desks to established locations, shut down and return laptops to charging bays or logout of desktops, connect laptops to appropriate charging cables. Check the area to make sure that it is clean and all items such as tools, materials, drawing tablets, splitters or headsets have been properly put away.
