To earn the Illinois State Seal of Biliteracy, students must demonstrate proficiency in English and in one or more other world language.

To earn a Seal of Biliteracy, students must achieve a score in 1 of the following:
4.8 Overall on the ACCESS for ELLs
Composite score of 21 on the ACT
480 on the ELA portion of the SAT
5 on the AP English Language & Composition Exam
HHS Students enrolled in AP English Language & Composition take this exam as part of their course
Final GPA of 3.0 in a Dual Credit English Composition
Intermediate High on Standards-based Measurement of Proficiency (STAMP) 4S test
To earn a Commendation, students must achieve a score in 1 of the following:
3.5 Literacy on the ACCESS for ELLs
Composite score of 21 on the ACT
480 on the ELA portion of the SAT
4 on the AP English Language & Composition Exam
HHS Students enrolled in AP English Language & Composition take this exam as part of their course
Final GPA of 2.5 in a Dual Credit English Composition
Intermediate High on Standards-based Measurement of Proficiency (STAMP) 4S test
How Do I DEMONSTRATE PROFIENCY IN A WORLD LANGUAGE?
To earn a Seal of Biliteracy, students must achieve a score in 1 of the following:
4 on the AP Language & Culture Exam
HHS Students enrolled in AP Chinese or AP Spanish take these exams as part of their course
Intermediate High on Standards-based Measurement of Proficiency (STAMP) 4S test
HHS Seniors enrolled in a World Languages course receive information about the STAMP Test during second semester.
If you are not enrolled in an HHS World Language course, you will receive information about the STAMP test through your district email during the month of March.
