A 1937 graduate of Morehouse, Armstead arrived at Dillard University in 1946. Coach Pierro's tenure transformed the Dillard University football program from a struggling neophyte incarnation, into conference champions. The program became year-to-year title contenders. His leadership propelled the Blue Devils to capture several titles.
