Ms. Jones is a member of Dillard University's first graduating class (1936). While at Fair Dillard, she excelled as a music major. She was a member of the university's first choir and phenomenal soloists. During World War II, Ms. Jones became the director for the major African American choir "Wings Over Jordan". This made Ms. Jones one of the first African American women to lead a major, national choir. The choir traveled around the U.S. performing at various military camps entertaining soldiers with gospel music, as well as, promoted race relations. Ms. Jones settled within Texas and continued to promote music education amongst African Americans.
