Advance Training on Analysis in Humanitarian Settings

A specialized information management course to support analysis for OCHA and its operational partners.

The Advanced Training on Analysis in Humanitarian Settings (ATHAS) is a course designed to improve analysis in humanitarian settings. It provides knowledge and skills in specific analysis methods and tools to selected experienced OCHA staff members and relevant specialised partners. The focus of the course is on both qualitative and quantitative analysis outputs.

Participants will be provided opportunities to practice various analysis techniques on the analysis of the context, situations including conflict and natural disasters, needs and vulnerability of affected people, potential future risks, situation forecasting, projections and scenarios development, response analysis, population statistics and estimation, data and trends through different practical exercises and simulations.

Objectives

The main objective of the Advanced Training on Analysis in Humanitarian Settings is to enhance the systematic analysis of crisis situation, people’s needs, capacities and vulnerability, and risks to inform timely and relevant humanitarian action.

As a result, it contributes to improving the quality, reproducibility and credibility of analytical judgements and conclusions in the humanitarian settings.

Participation

25 participants will be selected on basis of the following criteria:


  • Graduate of the Coordinated Assessment and Information Management (CAIM) Course
  • Good knowledge and skills in needs assessment and analysis, including recent experiences;
  • Excellent oral and written English.
