Hello Springhurst!
I am so excited to be joining such a wonderful school community here at Springhurst. I am a recent graduate of Mercy University and while Springhurst may be my first official job as a school psychologist, I have a long history of working both with children and in education. Initially, I had hoped to earn my degree in Psychology (with an entrepreneurship minor) to open my own practice. While completing my undergraduate studies at Elon University, I was employed through the America Reads program as an elementary tutor. I worked with elementary students to help strengthen their skills in reading, math, and writing. Aiding students in rural North Carolina granted me a valuable perspective on the importance of education. After completing my degree at Elon I began working as an Assistant Pre-K teacher at All Aboard LLC in Ossining, NY. I worked closely with my head teacher to create lesson plans, manage challenging behaviors, communicate with parents, and educate students. During my time as a teacher, I began my studies in school psychology at the local Mercy University. Their program allowed me to further my education while I continued to make an impact in the classroom. When the time came to complete my full year internship, I transitioned away from All Aboard and sought work in the evening to focus on my internship in the Pelham Union Free District. Through my experience there I had the opportunity to perform assessments, provide group and individual counseling, develop behavioral plans, and collaborate with teachers to support students at both the high school and elementary level. Now that I have landed at Springhurst I hope to continue collaborating with staff and families to support all our eagles to be their best!
