As the founder of Visual Poetry Philippines and Arte Bauan, Yelcast is a true trailblazer in redefining abstraction. His work seamlessly combines the art of calligraphy with poetic sensibilities, resulting in a truly innovative approach to reinterpreting words, poetry, lyrics, and quotes known as visual poetry. He advocates for the shared responsibility of inspiring people to dream and love, and of showing a positive perspective and beauty of life through art.
Among his notable accomplishments include representing the Philippines at the XIV Florence Biennale in 2023, and participating in international exhibitions in Paris, Florence, Milan, Berlin, Frankfurt, and Essen. He is also a recipient of various awards including the 2023 Dangal ng Batangan Award for Culture and Arts (Batangas Artist Award for Visual Arts), first place at the On the Spot National Pastel Competition by Philippine Pastel Artists, a non-profit organization for pastel artists and a recognized member-society of the International Association of Pastel Societies (IAPS), and a three-time semi-finalist at the Metrobank National Art Competition, one of the most prestigious art competitions in the Philippines.
Yelcast was born on 25 February 1986 in Batangas, Philippines. Before devoting himself full-time to his art, Yelcast was an accomplished electrical engineer.
