If you go to Honda, I recommend you the following activities:

1

Make a walking tour and visit the ‘Plaza de la Catedral de Nuestra Señora del Rosario’ and the surrounding colonial streets.

2

Visit museums such as the house of Alfonso Lopez and the River Museum.

3

Walk on the many bridges and walk to the connection of the Guarinó river and the Magdalena river where 3 departments meet; Cundinamarca, Tolima and Caldas.

4

Taste some ‘tamales’ from Tolima or the sweet candy made from tamarind and wrapped in banana leaf. And to refresh yourself, you can try some basil lemonade, frozen salpicon of fruits or even a cocktail of pineapple juice with Tapa Roja (a typical licor of the region).

5

Stay at the Hotel Las Trampas, because of its mix of colonial architecture and comfort.

6

Enjoy a real ‘Viudo de pescado’, especially with ‘capaz’ or black fish, served with hogao and its side dishes, all cooked on firewood.

7

Learn to weave a fishnet and throw one on the banks of the Magdalena river.

8

Spend time with the fishermen and listen to their stories and adventures during their fishing trips.

9

Enjoy bird watching where you can observe tanagers, Andean cocks-of-the-rock, different species of hummingbirds, among others.

10

Visit the municipal market square in the morning, where you can find a variety of products (fruits and vegetables) and see the fishermen arrive with their fresh catch

Without any doubts, we still have a long way to discover all the hidden gems of this beautiful region.
