‘Space’ refers to the physical location of the learning and whether the learning is happening via analogue technologies, digital, or a hybrid. Like place, there is no “preferred option”: the most appropriate space for learning is whatever space is suitable for the task.
Varying space can create great value in terms of accessibility and options. Students who cannot access physical resources - for example because of their location, access to materials, or disability - may be able to complete tasks in a digital space. Similarly, a physical resource may be a preferred option to overcome issues with access to technology, or when dealing with a particular medium, like modelling with clay or prototyping a design.
Understanding the variable of ‘space’ allows for a more seamless transition between the analogue and digital worlds of education.
Space can be:
analogue and digital
workbook and website
inclusive of true hybrid learning (learning together, apart)
