ABSTRACT

The primary purpose of the study was to determine the effectiveness of Project SOLVE (Sustaining Outstanding Learning through Various Enhancements in Mathematics) as a strategy for enhancing the problem-solving skills of the Key Stage 2 learners. This study used the One Group Pretest - Posttest Experimental Research Design involving a total of 15 Grade 5 pupils and 15 Grade 6 pupils as the respondents. Results revealed that when the respondents were exposed to the Project SOLVE in Math intervention materials, their level increased from below proficient to proficient. It is determined that Project SOLVE has a large effect on increasing the level of mastery of learners in problem-solving. Also, it did not only improve their problem-solving skills but also nurtured their reading abilities, logical reasoning, and analytical thinking. Based on the results of the study, it is recommended that the utilization of Project SOLVE as a numeracy intervention for grade 5-6 learners especially those who belong to below proficient level.
