Strategic Intervention Material (SIM) in Improving the using Simple Verb Tenses of the Grade 6 Pupils of La Paz Elementary School

ABSTRACT
This study was conducted to determine the effect of using the Strategic Intervention Material (SIM) titled "Skill Builders on Simple Verb Tenses" in improving the skills of Grade 6 learners in using simple verb tenses in English at La Paz Elementary School for the school year 2022-2023. The researchers utilized a two-group pretest-posttest research design. Out of 60 grade 6 enrollees, 30 pupils did not use SIM and served as the control group, while the remaining 30 pupils utilized SIM and served as the experimental group. The students’ results on the pre-test and post-test in both groups were described using mean and standard deviation. To assess whether a significant difference existed in the scores before and after implementing SIM, a paired sample t-test was utilized for each group's participants. The findings of the study showed that SIM is an effective intervention strategy for improving the pupils' skills in using simple verb tenses. Other English teachers are highly recommended to use the intervention, and they should conduct parallel studies to include SIM in regular classroom teaching routines.
