E-SIM (Electronic- Strategic Intervention Material) and Learning Achievement of Grade 12 Learners in Tsunami and Other Effects of Earthquake
Ritchel C. Quero, Teacher III, Alicia Vocational School
ABSTRACT
This study determined the effectiveness of Electronic Strategic Intervention Material (E-SIM) to address the least mastered competencies in Earth and Life Science among Grade 12 Masonry learners of Alicia Vocational School. It introduced E-SIM to define the purpose of mastering the competency on Geologic Processes and Hazards, specifically on the Tsunami and other effects of earthquakes. A One-group pretest post-test research design was employed using the total enumeration sampling method since only 38 Masonry learners enrolled. The data were gathered from the pre and post-test results of Grade 12 Masonry learners. Results revealed that there was a significant increase in the respondents’ academic performance after the implementation of E-SIM. The effect size or magnitude of the difference of E-SIM to improve student’s academic achievement is large. Thus, it is recommended that it should be utilized to improve students’ mastery of Geologic Processes and Hazards, specifically on the Tsunami and other effects of earthquakes.
