VOCA (Vocabulary Challenges and Activities) and the Vocabulary Skills of the Grade 5 Pupils of Mapuroc Elementary School

ABSTRACT


This action research focused on the effectiveness of Vocabulary Challenges and Activities (VOCA) in improving vocabulary skills. Specifically, it determined the mean pretest and post-test scores, the significant difference between the scores, and the effect size of VOCA. This study utilized 21 learners, employing a universal sampling technique. Mean formula, Standard Deviation, Paired Samples T-Test, and Eta Squared were utilized in the study. Based on the analysis, there was a significant difference between the pretest and post-test scores. Therefore, the intervention had a significant effect, and there was an improvement in the learners’ performance. With this, the researcher recommends the use of the intervention material to enhance vocabulary skills, develop other game-based activities to enhance literacy level, and conduct similar studies.
