ABSTRACT
This action research looked into the effectiveness of Strategic Intervention Material entitled Work with Min and Ion in improving the academic achievement of students on the selected least mastered learning competency in Science 8 for school-year 2020-2021. One-group pre-test post-test research design was utilized consisting of 34 Grade-8 respondents selected thru purposive sampling. Statistical tools such as mean, standard deviation, two-tailed paired sample t-test of means, and Eta-squared, were used to analyze the scores. It was found out that there was a significant difference between the pre-test and post-test scores. Furthermore, the intervention had a large effect, and there was an improvement in the respondents’ academic performance on the least mastered learning competency. Moreover, based on the Students Perception Survey, respondents strongly agree that the SIM helped master the learning competency. With this, it is recommended that “Work with Min and Ion’’ be used as a remediation material in Science 8. Furthermore, the development of Strategic Intervention Material on the identified least mastered learning competency in Science and other learning areas be conducted, and similar studies to improve learners’ performance be implemented.
