Gene C. Geronimo, Principal III, Benito Soliven National High School

ABSTRACT

School-Based Learning Action Cell is considered a tool to enhance teachers’ performance across learning areas. Hence, the assessment of the extent of the conduct of LAC in the schools of Benito Soliven North District was determined to bridge the gaps and offer solutions for teachers to make adjustments in the teaching-learning process. It further investigated the status of implementation of the different LAC sessions, composition of groups, bases for the conduct of LAC, the process of conducting LAC groups, the members’ roles, and ways to improve the discussions and topics. Purposive Sampling, survey questionnaires, social media apps, and essential statistical tools were utilized to collect and analyze data. In addition, FGDs and unstructured online interviews served as validation to the different questions. Findings revealed that Teachers and School Heads were involved in the conduct of LAC sessions. However, the problems encountered by respondents were significant factors to be done with full awareness by the internal and external stakeholders. Moreover, as an intervention to address the gaps and sustain the LAC processes, pedagogical content knowledge must be strengthened thus, integration of LAC as a topic ought to be discussed in In-Service training.
