Competencies of Teachers in TV Broadcasting in Luna District: Basis For an Enhanced Localized Learning and Development Program

ABSTRACT

This descriptive-evaluative study aimed to determine the significant difference on the proficiency level in various competencies before and after the ETV intervention program and the proficiency level in TV broadcasting and the profile of the 24 randomly selected ETV teachers in Luna, Isabela. Results showed that ETV teachers were under the developing level of proficiency in all the competencies before the implementation of the ETV intervention program and accomplished mastery level after the implementation of the said program. There was a significant difference on the proficiency level of ETV teachers in all the competencies after the implementation of the program. The proficiency level of ETV teachers in TV broadcasting in different aspects has no significant difference with their age, number of years in teaching, and the training they had attended while their current position and educational attainment were found to have significance. Very serious problems in the availability of advanced technologies, distractions from the environment, and time management were encountered by the respondents. Based on the results drawn, it is recommended that DepEd and school authorities should address the problems encountered and conduct an enhanced localized intervention program to ETV teachers.
