Project FORWARD (Fortify Reading and Writing to Actively Raise Development), the division English program was conceptualized in 2021. This project aims to support DepEd’s battlecry “Sulong Edukalidad” and DepEd’s Hamon: Bawat Bata Bumabasa (3Bs) Initiative along with the Reading First for Region 1 Project. It attempts to come up with a streamlined and more systematic implementation and execution of activities in English, ELLN and SPJ programs from the effective existing programs and projects to the new scheme to address the above mentioned concerns of the division in English. Furthermore, it intends to target both the needs of teachers and learners through training and other significant activities in order to achieve the desired learning outcomes and escalate the division’s over-all performance particularly in reading and journalism.

5Bs or “Bahay Basa at Bilang sa Bawat Barangay” was launched last September 2022. This initiative serves as an extension service of the division and aims to address literacy goals and make the spirit of not only literacy but volunteerism in every barangay in Urdaneta City. It is also a way to ensure the functionality of reading centers in the barangay or within the schools by collaborating with community volunteers and teacher volunteers to address literacy concerns; involve the community in the implementation of various reading programs, projects and activities and improve the reading performance of the learners and achieve zero non-readers.
