EARTH'S RESOURCES
Resources are all the materials available in our environment which supplies and satisfies our needs and wants. Resources can be classified upon their availability — they are classified into renewable and non-renewable resources .
Renewable resources are organic resources which can be replenish over a short period of time. Example: plants, animals, water source such as in lake and river
Nonrenewable resources cannot be replenished or replaced once consumed. Example: minerals, oil and petroleum
RESOURCES THE PHILIPPINES
Natural Resources includes air, water, plant animals,, soil, rocks, minerals, crude oil and other fossil fuels.
Our country is rich in natural resources because of its location, just above the equator. It lies on a region called Pacific Ring of Fire. There is a high volcanic activity in this area resulting to rich mineral resources.
Water resource & Biodiversity
Watershed is an area of land on a slope which drains its water into a stream and its tributaries. There are many watershed in the Philippines because we have abundant rainfall.
Watersheds are also habitats of various organisms because a single watershed includes combination of forest, grassland and marshes. It is reported that the Philippine archipelago houses diverse plants and animals which can only be found on the country (endemic).
Rocks & Mineral resources
Stated above that the Philippines is rich in mineral resources including metallic (gold, copper, iron, chromite, nickel, cobalt & platinum) & non-metallic (sand, gravel, limestone, marble, clay and other quarry materials)
