In a bid to extend help amid the pandemic, the Sanchez Mira School of Arts and Trades(SMSAT) teaching and non-teaching personnel generated from their own pocket P80,800.00 worth of relief goods for students and frontliners.
The relief operation drive, which benefitted not only the students in Sanchez Mira and Pamplona but also the barangay and border checkpoint frontliners, was initiated by SMSAT school principal Dr. Ronald B. Gapusan. Dr. Gapusan said that this is the time to show selflessness and service. “This is the moment we show our selflessness to others. In these difficult times there is nothing in our hearts but our willingness to serve as our brothers’ keeper. We could not afford to see a part of the SMSAT family miss a meal, especially our learners, who, shall I say, live from hand-to-mouth existence,” the principal said. Prior to the distribution of relief goods on April 26-28, 2020, recipients of the said bayanihan were recommended by the junior high school and senior high school class advisers. The school also coordinated with the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council and Sanchez Mira Police Station to ensure safety protocols during the distribution.

The Sanchez Mira School of Arts and Trades (SMSAT) made history as it opted to conduct its first-ever senior high school (SHS) online graduation on May 15 via bimodal platforms—Facebook Live and community channel aired through a cable system. Due to pandemic-induced restrictions, the SMSAT’s third SHS commencement exercises turned virtual as students’ graduation photos and profiles were flashed individually per specialization as counterpart of the usual processional of graduates in the normal rites. "Since the situation we are in prevents us from conducting the SHS commencement exercises the usual way, we had it through social media, to include a community channel in the municipality to satisfy the graduates’ and their parents’ unexpressed clamor for graduation which every single learner and every single parent dreams of and works hard for,” SMSAT school principal Ronald Gapusan said. The principal also pinned his hopes on the graduates in his message during the broadcast. "Now that you are more prepared to face life challenges, we would like to believe that from you will rise the finest workforce that will make this country and this world a better place to live in,” Gapusan said. The Facebook live feed gained positive feedbacks from students and parents. " Opo. Grumadweyt po kami online, yet I am still grateful because I know that all of these are God’s plan,” Merck Royan Callo, graduate, wrote in a post.
