Across the river from barangay Tungao and about 30 kilometers away from Butuan City proper, Florida National High School is a national-funded-learning institution offering Junior High School (Grades 7 to 10) and later offered Senior High School (Grade 11 to 12) in 2015. It was created in 2004 as the annex of Tungao Barangay High School (now Tungao National High School) to address the need for a high school in the locality,
In 2008, it gained its name as FLORIDA NATIONAL HIGH SCHOOL during the administration of the Schools Division Superintendent, Dr. Eden C. Omboy. The school site ownership is through a Deed of Donation with Tax Declaration.
