Reading Enhancement Activity Program
Project REAP is a school flagship READING PROJECT which aims to deliver various reading activities and programs to promote and enhance reading skills and uplift the culture of reading for the students of FLORIDA NATIONAL HIGH SCHOOL.
BOOK TALK
In this activity, students who are identified as independent readers will be given books to read at home. Once the student is done reading the book, the student will share and talk about her reflections, lesson, and experiences while they are reading the book.
In this way, the student will develop a deeper understanding of the text being read and enhance their reading comprehension.
READING CAFÉ
Comprehension Assessment and Fluency Enhancement
This program aims to provide a literacy center designated for specific learning purposes. It is designed to provide appropriate materials to help students build their confidence in reading. It is also a library with various reading materials such as; books, magazines, dictionaries, novels, and other reading resources.
Remote reading Assessment is an activity conducted to identify students’ level of reading. In this activity, assessment is done in remote ways such as using an online platform like google meet, videos call or phone call. The teacher also conducts actual home visitation to the students following basic health protocols.
Reading BuddyCreate reading buddies or partners to develop students’ confidence in reading and strengthen the campaign to improve literacy through the support of other reading partners such as our stakeholders, alumna, and trained private individuals who will guide the students in their journey in reading.
Reading MathematicsIn this activity, the students will be given word problems in math and let them apply the skills to reading comprehension. In this way, the teacher would know if the reading interventions were effective or may need more enhancement.This program emphasizes that comprehension does not only apply to reading novels and storybooks, reading comprehension can be applied across all learning areas such as in mathematics.
