Lesson 1: Definition of People Media

People Media refers to individuals who play a significant role in disseminating information, influencing public opinion, and shaping media content.

 

Lesson 2: Two Main Categories:

1.  People as Media – Individuals who act as channels of information without necessarily being professional journalists.

Example:

·     A teacher explaining world news in class.

·     A YouTuber reviewing a new gadget.

·     A student sharing helpful tips on social media.


2.  People in Media – Media professionals such as journalists, broadcasters, and content creators who work within the media industry.

Example:

·     A journalist writing news for a website.

·     A TV reporter covering a typhoon.

·     A radio broadcaster discussing current events.

 

Lesson 3: Characteristics of People Media

1.  Active and Engaging: People media are interactive and can directly influence opinions and behaviors.

People media are not just passive sources of information; they actively communicate, share opinions, and engage with their audience.

Example:

· A YouTuber responding to comments and creating videos based on followers' suggestions.

· A teacher discussing current events with students and asking for their opinions.

2.  Credibility and Influence: Some individuals are considered credible sources, while others spread misinformation.

Some people in media are trusted experts, while others spread false information (fake news).

Example:

· A doctor giving medical advice in a TV interview (credible).

· A social media post claiming "drinking lemon water cures all diseases" without proof (misleading).

3.  Diverse Backgrounds: People in media come from different professions (journalists, bloggers, influencers, educators, etc.)

People in media come from different fields, making the information they share varied and unique.

Example:

· Journalists write news articles.

· Influencers share fashion and tech trends.

· Educators provide online learning resources.

 

Lesson 4: Format and Types of People Media

A. People as Media (Non-professionals as Information Sources)

·     Opinion Leaders: Trusted individuals within a community who influence others (e.g., teachers, professionals).

·     Citizen Journalists: Ordinary people who report news through social media, blogs, or videos.

·     Social Media Influencers: Individuals with large online followings who promote ideas, products, or opinions.

·     Educators and Subject Matter Experts: People who share their expertise in specific fields.

B. People in Media (Professionals in the Media Industry)

·     Journalists and Reporters: News writers and broadcasters who deliver facts.

·     TV and Radio Broadcasters: Hosts, anchors, and presenters who communicate information through traditional media.

·     Filmmakers and Content Creators: Individuals who use digital platforms to create videos, documentaries, and entertainment.
