“Go beyond the power of technology to educate learners of today”. This has been a suitable expression that talks about what Technokids has to offer to the new normal of learning and teaching. In line with this, La Huerta Elementary School engaged itself to the innovative way of educating pupils across Grade levels to enhance their capacity in exploring different apps on their respective gadgets that will help them become independent in executing computer-related skills.

For the past months, LHES Technokids facilitators were able to make use of online platforms, like Google Meet, in teaching participants that were interested in Technokids offered by the school.

The following were the activities and outputs done by each level as evidence of learning taking its high acquisition on computer knowledge.

Grade One – Technowriters: Google Docs

Grade One pupils learnt about the use of Google Docs such as naming the document; editing; changing font style and resizing font size. Some advance students were able to manipulate their Google docs and explored its features and discovered changing colors and even inserting pictures to make their work visually appealing. Such application empowered pupils to be creative and able to compose sentences that express their thoughts with style.

Grade Two – Technowriters: Google Docs

Grade Two pupils were educated on Ordered List using their mobile devices. Learners were asked to typed down their to-do-list to organize their thought about things they want to do at home, during quarantine, daily routine and even simple arrangement on task-on-hand. Also, Grade 2 pupils wrote their own poems and format it using the given tools on Google Docs.

Grade Three – TechnoAdventurers: Google Slides

Grade Three pupils were able to learn about Google Slides wherein they can change the font style, size, color and alignment of texts in presenting their slides. Each tasks done by the pupils were painstakingly made with the proper handling of their device.

Grade Four – TechnoSavings: Google Sheets

Grade Four pupils were cultivated with the proper use of Google Sheets. Each participating learner download the given application so that they can operate the spreadsheets through proper naming, renaming, saving and even editing information. Another topic discussed was about “file series” in numerical values and working on cells for formatting.

Grade Five – TechnoHTML: SoloLearn

Grade Five learners were taught to learn programming using HTML meaning Hypertext Markup Language, the language used to create web pages. Pupils mastered the SoloLearn application wherein they sign in/out and do practiced naming, renaming and saving blank HTML file.

Grade Six – TechnoStory: Scratch Jr.

Grade Six learners show off their creativeness in using the paint editor interface wherein they were able to create a character, change background and write their name on the stage they were working on. Pupils took their imagination into virtual reality that enable them to create digital masterpieces.

Technokids believed on what Oprah Winfrey Said, “You have to find what sparks a light in you, so that you in your own way can illuminate the world.” Be that inkling of light that will keep the road of learning alight for learners to pass through without any hesitation.
