The Combat Against Illiteracy (CAI) initiative focuses on strengthening information dissemination to keep learners, teachers, and stakeholders well-informed about the program’s status and developments. It also emphasizes promoting awareness to encourage greater participation and increase enrollment.
ALS learners are given the chance to explore their future paths or "exit choices thoughtfully." This process is grounded in an understanding of their individual progress, achievements, interests, and potential, as well as the real-world challenges and opportunities they may encounter after completing the ALS program. Career guidance plays a vital role in helping learners build a clear and actionable career development plan. With the right guidance, they can map out the steps needed to achieve their goals and make confident, well-informed decisions about their future.
Every year, ALS implementers in the Division hold graduation and moving-up ceremonies to formally recognize the performance and achievement of ALS learners. Despite the various challenges, they were able to successfully finish the requirements for the ALS program. The ceremony provides a public venue wherein the graduates and completers receive their diplomas, marking their official graduation from elementary or junior high school.
This consultative conference is designed to bring together teachers, school heads, public school district supervisors, and stakeholders to improve the delivery of instruction, help learners progress from enrollment to completion, and sustain the program. This activity will showcase the achievement of each community learning center and share best practices, such as effective teaching strategies that support student success rates. Most importantly, this conference will serve as an opportunity to communicate the challenges encountered by ALS learners and teachers regarding resources, facilities, and instructional support to gain actionable support from stakeholders that will benefit both teachers and learners.
The ALS Curriculum Deep Dive: Enhancing Content Delivery and Assessment is a capacity-building training designed to strengthen the instructional competencies of ALS teachers. It focuses on deepening their understanding of the K–12 ALS curriculum, enhancing contextualized teaching strategies, and improving assessment practices aligned with the Accreditation and Equivalency (A&E) Assessment. Anchored on Republic Act No. 11510 (ALS Act of 2020), Republic Act No. 9155, and the 1987 Philippine Constitution, the training supports the delivery of accessible, inclusive, and quality education for all learners.
The Division Training on Fostering Higher-Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) Among ALS Teachers is a three-day capacity-building program designed to strengthen teachers' ability to integrate higher-order thinking skills into instruction and assessment across the six learning strands of the Alternative Learning System (ALS). The training responds to the need to improve learner engagement, critical thinking, and program completion by equipping teachers with effective pedagogical strategies and assessment practices that promote analysis, problem-solving, creativity, and decision-making. Aligned with the goals of the ALS Act of 2020 (Republic Act No. 11510) and the Department of Education's commitment to quality and inclusive education, the training aims to enhance classroom practices that support meaningful learning and better learner outcomes.
