Turac has the distinction of being one of the pioneer barrios where the first public school, which is the Turac Barrio School was opened in San Carlos sometime in 1921 with Don Emilio Padlan as Town Mayor.
The Turac Barrio School, as it was originally named, was situated in the heart of the said barrio, the site which was donated by the late parent Mr. Marcelo Navarro. From a two-room, two-teacher affair, it progressed through the years through its present status. The first teachers were Mr. and Mrs. Rafael Fernandez. The single building with two rooms was the first to be built with small enrolment because people that time were not yet conscious about education. In later years, neighboring barrios like Dumpay, Mapolopolo, Balite Sur, Magtaking and even Payapa come to know the existence of this school. These parents brought forth their children to acquire knowledge in this school.
There was combination of classes where grade I and II and grades III and IV were handled by a single teacher respectively.Part of this administration was handled by Mr. and Mrs. Ricardo Junatas. When the door of the Turac Barrio School was allowed to reopen and function during the dark period of the Philippine History, Mr. Mariano Torio took over the helm of this school. By this time, the school was named Turac Community School. Through his effort, the school population increased, two more rooms were added on both sides of the existing building. Mr. Torio did not lose hope in improving the physical facilities of the school without neglecting the high standard of academic excellence.
After the term of Mr. Mariano Torio, Mr. Pedro Muñoz, succeeded him as a Teacher in Charge. He continued the educational policies that were started. The evolvement then had greatly increased. It was through him that the school became a “Central School” with the late Domingo Datuin, the superintendent of the newly separated Division of City Schools from the Division of Pangasinan in the year 1967.
From that time on, chain of educational leaders come and go. Among these school leaders were Mrs. Carmen Barlaan (1970-1971), Mrs. Milagros Magleo (1972-1974), Mr. Felix C. De Vera (1975-1976), Mr. Mauricio Saoit (1976-1977), Mr. Antonio Agbuya (1977),Mrs. Vicenta Rosario (1977-1981), Mrs. Adelaida Evangelista (1981-1986), Mr. Josefino Banaag took over as Officer-In-Charge of the School for five months, Mr. Rodolfo S. Samera (1986-1991), Mrs. Josefa S. Bachar (1991-1995), Mr. Rudy Aquino (1995-1998), Dr. Resurreccion M. Erguiza (1997-1998),Mrs. Priscilla S. Victorio (1998-2004),Mrs. Florenia A. Dizon (2004-2014). Mr. Remegio S. Casingal (2014), Mrs. Edna C. Roque (2015-2019) and Mr. Samuel C. Rosario (2019- up to the present).
