On December 20,2023 Magtaking ES entry for BSP-GSP AVP making-contest was hailed as the best one among the rest of schools in the entire SCC- Division.
Magtaking Elementary School celebrated Family Day with the Theme “ Family Day: A Past to Remember, A Present to Celebrate, A Future to Generate last December 9. The school conducted different activities such as Laro ng Lahi, Trip to Jerusalem , Family Got Talent and more. This event aimed to reflect the values of family and to focus on getting closer and spend more time of parents to their children. Mrs. Arlyn O. Mendoza highlighted the said event by announcement of winners and raffle prizes.

School- Based National Reading Month preliminary Activity November 24, 2022.
Magtaking Elementary School conducted the first quarter examination last November 7-8, 2022.
Quarterly examination has always been a part of the education process to measure the learners’ performance in school. The learners prepare a lot, take their studies seriously, studying hard and hoping for good scores in the end.
For teachers, quarterly examinations reflect what has transpired during the quarter and show the true learning of the learners. The exams also remind teachers about how important their role is, in shaping the minds of the young children.
No matter how different people view quarterly examinations, one thing remains certain. The exams are given to help the children and remind them to always strive harder and use that knowledge they gain in shaping their bright futures.
Magtaking Elementary School formally implemented full face to face and five days of in-person classes on November 2, 2022
Prior to the announcement of the Department of Education, teachers and staff have worked tirelessly for the safe reopening of the school this SY 2022 - 2023. School preparation was conducted according to initial plans and strategies to ensure the safe return to of teachers and learners on face-to-face classes.
As always, the school complies with government directives and work in the best interest of all the members of school community.
Magtaking Elementary School Heroic Deeds and Challenging Experience During Pandemic (SY 2021-2022)
Magtaking Elementary School adapted different programs and strategies to extend service to learners despite of the threat caused by the pandemic. The activities are as follows:
Reading Enhancement and Intervention Activities – this program aims develop reading skills and enhance reading comprehension of learners.
Learners Support Service – this support addresses the needs of learners who cannot manage independent learning, including those with disabilities and special needs; those who do not have a household member or any responsible adult available to provide instructional support and households with parents and guardians with full-time jobs who may not be able to monitor and guide the child’s learning at home.
Virtual Follow-Up – this support service provides additional resources and guidance. Through this, teachers and learners maintain personal connections and establish routines especially those struggling learners.
Home Visitation – this activity serves as support for students’ families by visiting the home environment. This can also be a valuable tool to check the parents’ involvement in their kids’ education.
Sulong Edukalidad: Educational Supplies Advocacy - teachers contributed, initiated and supported the provision of educational supplies to all learners in partnership with the school’s generous stakeholders and donors to ensure that every learner is prepared to learn and succeed in their studies even during pandemic.
Community Outreach Program – the school contributed and initiated community outreach program amid the COVID-19 pandemic when food insecurity became more noticeable among our learners. It gives us an opportunity to support our learners as a whole. Being able to offer common goods helps ease learners’ hunger and malnutrition.
BRIGADA ESKWELA 2020
Pursuant to DepEd Memorandum No. 12, s. 2006 otherwise known as National Schools Maintenance Week or commonly called Brigada Eskwela, Magtaking Elementary School adheres to this advocacy of the Department of Education in preparing the school to be safer and more conducive to learning for the upcoming school year 2020-2021.
The very essence of this program is to promote the school as an institution responsible in molding the learners into a responsible individual in the society. A better individual who will be an emblem of the kind of learning center where he was raised. The diverse concern of school demands working with others to accomplish designed tasks and objectives. These would need dedicated school personnel, cooperative parents, accountable community and innovative learners. Hence, Magtaking Elementary School supports the program of the Department of Education by conducting Brigada Eskwela following the suggested precautionary measures in the school.
The Department of Education formally launched “Brigada Eskwela 2020” through National Virtual Kick Off on June 1, 2020, followed by Division Virtual Kick off of Brigada Eskwela on June 15, 2020 which was hosted by Agdao Integrated School. Brigada Eskwela and Oplan Balik Eskwela 2020 joint implementation as provided under DM 32, s. 2020 with this year’s theme "Pagpapanatili ng Bayanihan Tungo sa Kalidad na Edukasyon para sa Kabataan" aims to bring together all education stakeholders to participate and contribute time, effort and resources to prepare the school for the opening of classes. The slogan for this year’s conduct of BE and OBE shall be “Bayanihan sa Paaralan”. In this regard, an extensive information drive commence with posting of announcement and sending invitation letters to prospective benefactors and volunteers started as early as January. The school received an overwhelming response of support from diverse volunteers and unselfishly contributed either in cash or in kind as well as rendered their services during the Brigada Eskwela.
The new concept of Brigada Eskwela under the new framework shall focus on preparation and strengthening partnership engagement to ensure that learning continues despite the challenges in adapting to the COVID-19 situation and the implementation of the School Learning Continuity Plan. As part of the School Learning Continuity Plan, the school planned and implemented activities geared on making school virus free, ecologically conscious, resilient, clean, safe and conducive to learning.
Adherence to DepEd Order No. 14, s. 2020 entitled Guidelines on the Required Health Standards in Basic Education Offices and School, Magtaking Elementary School promotes proper observation of physical distancing, proper hygiene, safety and other precautionary measures through posting of signage in the school premises, and provision of personal protective equipment, sanitation materials for classrooms, offices and provision of thermal scanners. The availability of school water resources are ensured such as deep wells ,rain catchers, and faucets to be able to sustain the needs in the school greening program, sanitation and hygiene, and access in response to emergency procedure.
As a whole, all the task were successfully done and completed. With the activities undertaken, DepEd rekindled bayanihan as well as prepared the school safer and more conducive to learning before the start of classes. The success of Brigada Eskwela is a proof of the commitment of our stakeholders to continuously improve the learning environment of our school. Magtaking ES teaching staff views this as a fresh start to work hand in hand to improve the key performance indicators of the said school. The school is very much indebted to the stakeholders. To God be the glory!

The Department of Education formally launched “Brigada Eskwela 2019” from May 20-25, 2019 in all public elementary and high schools nationwide with this year’s theme "Matatag na Bayan Para sa Maunlad na Paaralan". In this regard, an extensive information drive commence with posting of announcement and sending invitation letters to prospective benefactors and volunteers as early as April. The school received an overwhelming response of support from diverse volunteers and unselfishly contributed either in cash or in kind as well as rendered their service during the Brigada Eskwela week.
Magtaking Elementary School conducted Brigada Eskwlea Kick-off Ceremony on May 20, 2019 which started with a motorcade as part of the advocacy program which was led by the school principal, Mrs. Arlyn O. Mendoza together with the advocacy and marketing committee, PTA officers and Magtaking Barangay Council. After which an opening program was conducted. State of the School Address which highlights the achievement of the school in the previous year, the future plans for our school, and the accumulated cash donations during the pre-brigada eskwela implementation was delivered by the school principal. The school advocacy SMP (Samahang Matatag at Produktibo) was very evident for there is considerably increase support from the barangay officials, community, parents, pupils, alumni, NGOs, LGUs, Private Sectors, concerned citizens, other stakeholders and volunteers during the weeklong brigada eskwela and the bayanihan spirit was sustained throughout the succeeding days. A plethora of willing and civic-spirited people banded together in school to do carpentry works, gardening, cleaning, landscaping, painting job and the like. Volunteers and stakeholders showed initiative of providing anything that could result to a successful conduct of brigada eskwela.
In return to the kindness and generosity of the community and other stakeholders, the school prepared various activities. Disaster preparedness and Management Lecture was conducted by the City Disaster Risk Reduction Office on May 20. Sangguniang Kabataan in participation of SF Host Lions Club sponsored the Dental Mission and Operation Tuli on May 21st. SRB Pangasinan Provincial Alumni Association conducted feeding program and provided free slippers and school supplies for Grade I pupils. Emergency bags for 350 learners were also provided by Magtaking Barangay Council including the installation of CCTV cameras for the school.
On May 25, a culminating program was conducted. Evaluation and monitoring of the accomplishments done were reported to PTA, Barangay Officials, parents and other stakeholders. The school warmly Certificate of Appreciation to the benevolent donors during the closing program. As a whole, all the task were successfully done and completed. With the activities undertaken, DepEd rekindled bayanihan as well as prepared the school safer and more conducive to learning before the start of classes. The success of Brigada Eskwela is a proof of the commitment of our stakeholders to continuously improve the learning environment of our school. Magtaking ES learners will surely attend classes with vigor and eagerness. Magtaking ES teaching staff views this as a fresh start to work hand in hand to improve the key performance indicators of the said school. The school is very much indebted to the stakeholders. March 4-5,2023: Opening of the District IV Meet.
This year marks the 24th edition of International Mother Language Day. MES celebrates International Mother Language Day with the theme “Multilingual Education – a Necessity to Transform Education". The day promotes awareness of linguistic and cultural diversity and multilingualism. Celebrating International Mother Languages is important because it ensures those languages are not forgotten and keeps various societies' cultures, heritage, and history intact.
Our school commemorates the event through various activities such as:
1. Table exhibit of MTBMLE materials ( Grades 1-3)
2. Teaching MTB MLE Subject ( Teachers are required to send pictures while teaching the subject).
3. Storytelling/ Story Reading ( representative of each grade level from Grades 1-3)
4. Singing Competition ( Pangasinan Song) from Grades 4-6.
Ma’am Arlyn O. Mendoza our school head, Ma’am Emerita I. Santos our SPTA President, and Ma’am Sheila Gundayao our School Administrative Officer serve as our judges during the competition.
The pupils were very happy and they enjoyed very well participating in the different activities.

November 18,2022 Day 1 Activity: Tent Pitching and Preparation of the campOpening Ceremony
Aiming to provide opportunity to every students to practice being independent, learn teamwork and improve their communication skills, all in supervised and collaborative environment, Magtaking Elementary School conducted a Joint BSP/GSP Investiture and School Backyard Camporal 2022 last November 18-20, 2022 at Magtaking, San Carlos City, Pangasinan.
The three-day backyard encampment started by which the Junior Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts arrived at the school to pitch their tents. After the tents were all settled, Ma’am Cristine R. Ramos and Sir Allan M. Dela Cruz discussed and oriented every camper about the house rules. Junior Girl Scouts did an arts and crafts activity wherein they need to create a home display while Junior Boy Scouts were tasked to do some outdoor challenge. The campers were tasked to prepare and cook their food for dinner. Also, as part of the first day of the event the backyard encampment was joined by Junior Boy Scouts and Junior Girl Scouts. Through the Barangay Chairman and Council, the school requested security for the Backyard camping from Day 1 up to Day3.
On the second day, the investiture ceremony for the Twinkler Scouts, Star Scouts, Junior Girl Scouts, KID Scouts, KAB Scouts and Junior Boy Scouts was held at Magtaking Elementary School, Gymnasium. Also, new adult leaders were also invested spearheaded by troop leaders and investing officers Ma’am Arlyn O. Mendoza. The investiture began by the entrance of colors and singing of the national anthem lead by Ma’am Euleasa L. Maningding followed by a prayer by Ma’am Marife Rosario. During the investiture, scouts showered the venue with their energetic and enthusiastic dance presentations.
During the afternoon session, Mr. John Paul C. Tapia shares his knowledge some of the insights and essential methods to remedy few of the accidents they might encounter. Wide games are also completed and relished by the campers. On the night of the same day, camper enjoyed showcasing various campfire presentations including dancing, choral singing and acting. Those activities are fun with an important purpose; to strengthen group connections, improve communication and build trust.
The last day of the event began early through body conditioning and Zumba dance exercises lead by Ma’am Arlyn O. Mendoza and respective troop leaders. After their breakfast, the scouters proceed on their last activity-Clean Up Drive and Tree Planting. After which, the closing and awarding ceremony took place.
Senior Citizens Day 2022
Caring about others, running the risk of feeling and leaving an impact on people, brings happiness.
Magtaking Elementary School celebrates Senior Citizens Day on December 2, 2022 to pay tribute to Senior Citizens of Barangay Magtaking, San Carlos City, Pangasinan.
The day is intended to recognize and acknowledge the contributions of older people to society. The school expresses deepest gratitude to Hon. Darwina " Darna" Sampang, Hon. Ruben Castro, to all barangay officials and SPTA Officers headed by Hon. Ludovico Alanzalon and Mrs. Emerita I. Santos respectively, to all teaching and non-teaching staff of Scc Magtaking ES headed by Mrs. Arlyn O. Mendoza, and to Retired Police Major Avelino Verzosa, the Guest of Honor and Speaker for the successful conduct of the said event.
In adherence to DepEd Memo No. 223, s. 2016, entitled Strengthening the Implementation of Gulayan sa Paaralan Program, Magtaking Elementary School Supports the said program and continue to improve and sustain the vegetable gardening in the school. One of the best practices of the school is the use of Hydroponics Farming. This technique is done by growing plants using water-based nutrient solution rather than soil. SPGO ELECTION 2022
A great leader knows how to translate vision into reality, even when one person’s vision seems like a dream. In the spirit of leadership development, Magtaking Elementary School successfully conducted election for the Supreme Pupil Government Organization for the school year 2022-2023 last September 14, 2022. The said election wouldn’t possible without the preparation of all the members of YOUTH COMEA together with the support of the adviser, Mrs. Manilyn R. Gutierrez, from planning and preparing paraphernalia, to the process of implementation for the successful election.
YOUTH COMEA Commissioners set guidelines for a qualification to meet before they qualify to run. The commissioners announced and posted the names of pupils who passed the screening and have the final list of candidates for the election. The campaign period lasted for three consecutive days wherein the candidates introduced their selves and explained the platforms they have that will help the school. After the campaign period, they gathered in MES Multi-Purpose Gym to attend the Meeting De Avance in which the candidates the final approach will happen to persuade the Grades 4-6 pupils to have their trust and to be elected in the position they are running for.
On September 19, 2022 the Chief Commissioner, our beloved school head, Mrs. Arlyn O. Mendoza, announced and proclaimed the new set of officers for the school year 2022-2023.
