The senior parking lot will once again have reserved parking spots for seniors in the north parking lot to paint/personalize. The cost to have a reserved spot for the entire year is $125 … AND the spot needs to be painted! If you do not purchase a spot you will be parking off campus. This is a fundraiser for the Senior class; all money raised goes to your senior retreat and other activities. The parking spot design must be approved and paid for before any painting begins. Email a picture of your design for approval to lbartz@denverchristian.org by August 6th. Any design alterations must be cleared prior to starting. Your FACTS form for payment must be completed before you begin painting. Your design should be a drawing/rendering of exactly what your spot will look like.
SPOT SELECTIONS WILL OCCUR Tuesday, AUGUST 6th at 5 PM. Draft order will be sent out on the evening of the 5th. Your draft order is based on the following: payment in, design submitted, physically present. You may only have another person select for you if you’ve communicated that with Bartz ahead of time. Choice of spot will be first approved/first paid, first come, first served. You have until August 10th to complete your spot as we need everything cured by the 12th.
Painting Party Times
Tuesday, August 6th 5:00 PM -DARK. **draft starts at 5 pm sharp. I recommend you come prepared to prep (scrap spot, chalk your design, tape etc) that evening.
Wednesday: August 7: 10AM - 4 PM
Thursday, August 8: 10 AM - DARK
Friday, August 9: 10 AM - 4 PM
Saturday, August 10: 9 AM - 5 PM. ALL SPOTS MUST BE COMPLETED BY 5 PM.
You may attend one or all of the listed painting party days in order to complete your design. If you are not able to attend one of the painting parties, talk with Mrs. Bartz about alternative times. Last year’s class found that the painting process took longer than they anticipated, so plan ahead and use a roller.
Guidelines for your spot:
Think of your space as a t-shirt you would wear to school. Your parking spot must be Denver Christian School appropriate. Keep it classy! Some ideas are: your name, jersey number, instrument you play, your hobby, famous quotes or slogans and anything unique to you. Look online … Google “senior parking spot ideas” Be creative, make it fun!
Students must paint either a 5’x3’ rectangle at the end of the parking spot, or plan to fill the entire space leaving a 12 inch border on the sides so parking lines are visible. You should have it clear in your proposal what your size will be.
Begin by using painter’s tape outlining the rectangle, then paint over last year’s design.
The design can be simple or complex, but it should reflect who you are.
(Water based) Exterior latex paint is the only type of paint that may be used. Period. The following is not allowed: oil based paint, reflective paint, spray paint, fluorescent paint, paint sprayers, clear coat. Acrylic paint (the craft kind) may look cool initially but it’ll last you about a month before being worn away. Ninja tip - hit up Guirys or other paint stores and ask if they have any overruns etc. It’ll save you $$$. To do 2 layers as a base on a whole space, we recommend getting 2 gallons.
While working on your spot - you are responsible for cleaning up after yourself. Any item Bartz has to pick up/throw away etc results in a "Laziness Fine" of $5/item and will need to be paid to Bartz before you can park in your spot the first day.
What to bring to the painting party:
ð Your approved design/sketch and proof of payment. You cannot begin painting before both of those are received.
ð Paint brushes, rollers, paint pans and painters tape, stencils, colored chalk for sketching your design, rags for cleaning, trash bags, drop cloths, paint clothes, etc.
ð Friends and family to help.
This is a great tradition and a fun way to kick off the school year!
