Have a Wonderful Summer!
Summer Office Hours at Denver Christian
Monday - Thursday
9:00 am - 3:00 pm
Greetings High School Families,
I hope this letter finds you well and enjoying your summer vacation with family and friends! As we approach the midpoint of summer break, I thought it would be a good time to check-in and give you some important information for the start of the 2025-26 school year.
Please mark your calendars for our High School and Middle School Get Together at Bear Creek Lake on July 29th from 11:00am-1:00pm. Although we are not allowed to reserve a specific pavilion near the water, we will be there early to reserve the pavilion closest to the water by the volleyball courts. I look forward to enjoying a great day at the lake with our DC families!
Welcome to our new DC students & families! As it stands currently, we will be welcoming 23 new families to Denver Christian High School. We are delighted that you (both students and parents) are joining our community and are excited to meet you! If you are a new family to Denver Christian, please join us for our New Family Dessert on August 5th from 6:30pm - 8:00 p.m. on the playground.
New and Improved High School Course Offerings: I am pleased to announce the addition of several new class offerings as well as the improvement of some of our existing courses. As of this Fall, Honors Statistics is now AP Statistics and Honors Calculus is now a dual-credit Calculus course. We have also made our Precalculus class more robust so that it is now a 5.0 dual-credit course. Additionally, we will now be offering AP Environmental Science, AP Computer Science Principles, AP Human Geography, Composition, Biblical Themes & Motifs (Honors), Lifetime Activities and Team Sports, Honors Biology and a brand new Executive High School Internship Program. This internship program will provide our students collegiate-level and real-world opportunities at businesses across the Denver/Lakewood area that will greatly foster their workforce readiness. Some of the internship opportunities include places like Lockheed Martin, CDOT, Colorado State Patrol, St. Anthony’s Hospital and Colorado School of Mines. To facilitate this program, we have hired Heather Mueller from Jeffco Schools, where she was the lead for the district’s internship program and was instrumental in maintaining relationships with over 250 community and business leaders.
New Staff/Positions: Please join me in welcoming the following people to our Denver Christian High School faculty:
Career Tech Education Director - Heather Mueller
Principal/Athletics Administrative Assistant - Jessica Montgomery
English Teacher - Shelley Coleman
Dean of Students - Matt Smith
Summer Learning: If you are an incoming 9th grade student OR you are taking Honors English; please see the MANDATORY summer reading lists below.
English 9: Link to summer reading and letter from Mrs. Waanders
English 10: Link and letter from Mrs. Zietse
Honors English: Students accepted into the class will be notified of the summer reading this week from Mrs. Tami Zietse.
Technology / Screen Time: We are prayerfully crafting our high school cell phone policy this summer and though it hasn’t been finalized, I wanted to assure families that whatever is decided upon will be strictly enforced. We look forward to partnering with you on this critical piece of your child’s learning and overall development.
School Supplies: We are not very prescriptive in regards to school supplies, as what is needed for each class will be communicated by each teacher on the first day and students typically know what they need to succeed. However, we do need greater participation with communal supplies such as tissue boxes and project supplies, as last year we ran out. Please see the below supply list and bring all mandatory supplies during the first week of school.
Enjoy the rest of your summer break! I look forward to all that God has in store for us this Fall!
My Best,
Brock Becker
