Made@Dent Client Partner Overview

Made@Dent (M@D) is a social enterprise, co-owned by Baltimore youth and Dent Education, that builds products to meet community needs.

For Dent youth to understand real-world challenges and experience the challenges and joys of meeting client needs, we partner with values-aligned companies and organizations. These partnerships offer real, delightful value to Client Partners who pay for M@D services.


To empower Baltimore’s young leaders of tomorrow, we need Made@Dent Client Partners to provide real-world opportunities for youth to build industry-standard skills, impact our community, and provide real value, thereby delighting clients.

Understand You & your Work; Align on Project

Week 1 - Thurs, July 7, 1:45-2:30 pm

Denters learn about you, your work, and align on the Client Project.

Your responsibility:

  • Human Centered Design Process Clients:

    • Speak to your organization's work, needs, values, and stakeholders

    • Can potentially showcase your work in some way

  • All Clients:

    • Align on the goals, deadlines, and deliverables for your Client Project


Brainstorm and Buld Protoypes for Apporval

Week 2 - Thurs, July 14, 1:45-2:30 pm

Denters brainstorm potential products for HCD Clients and build physical prototypes to be approved by you and your team

Your responsibility

  • HCD Client:

    • Provide authentic, positive & constructive feedback on iterations to 3-5 design and product proposals

    • Goal is to finalize the products being built this week or early in Week 3

  • All Clients:

    • Review and provide feedback on the prototype with any iterations


Fearless Example

  • Based on need: "Connect their rapidly growing team", we brainstormed the creation of nameplates for all employees at their desk

  • Ideas of Logo or personal icon on the front that represents the teammate

  • Created first prototypes of product for feedback


Iterate & start Production

Week 3 - Thurs, July 21, 1:45-2:30 pm

Based on your feedback, Denters will iterate and create a final, approved prototype that you love and are excited about. As they begin producing your product, they will note steps and efficiencies to create a Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) to produce your product at scale.

Your responsibility

  • HCD Client:

    • Ensure that the product(s) matches your standards and is within our production abilities

  • All Clients:

    • Ensure that the product matches your standards and is within our production abilities

    • Communicate quickly in case multiple iterations are needed

Fearless Example

  • Feedback on the prototype centered on just having logo on side AND using transparent purple materials to represent their Values too.

  • Perfected our process with prototyping different using laser cutting

Mass produce & quality Control Products

Week 4 - Thurs, July 28, 1:45-2:30 pm

Denters build a process and note it down with an SOP. They use this SOP as a team to scale production and efficiently deliver on the order while also doing quality control on the products created.

Your responsibility

  • Identify any key Quality Control factors to look out for.

  • Let team know about any changing delivery deadlines

  • We bulk ordered transparent, purple acrylic

  • We converted a list of 75 names from into a template we created for the laser cutting software

  • Implemented our SOP to scale production

Denters will deliver your order, share their learnings, and identify next steps for the partnership to continue.

Your responsibility

  • Pick up products that are delivered

  • Promote Made@Dent's Products (if you like them) and provide feedback

  • Identify future partnerships

Next Steps

  • Review & Sign MOU in email from mail@signnow.com with subject line "BoB '22 Made@Dent Client MOU"

  • Review and pay for 1st half of Invoice in email from Dent Education <quickbooks@notification.intuit.com> before BoB begins, within 10 business days of receiving invoice.

  • Accept invitation into Dent Slack by email

  • Fill out Made@Dent Confirmation Form

Meeting Locations & LOGISTICS

  • Meeting in-person at our Dent Site Location is preferred with Zoom meetings optional as needed

  • If any meetings cannot be made personally, you will try to have another representative available to meet with youth.

    1. If its an emergency or you have to meet at a different time, let us know and Dent will try our best to reschedule, though its not guaranteed
