DCSD Counseling Belief Statements:
Every student is a unique individual who deserves to feel safe, engaged, and connected at school through a caring relationship with an adult.
Every student can learn, every student can succeed, and every student can graduate.
Every student will graduate with opportunities to participate in and explore postsecondary pathways based on their unique skills and interests.
Every student should have access to a comprehensive school counseling program that promotes and enhances academic, career, and social/emotional outcomes.
Character development is essential for students to reason, act in an ethical manner, and be a responsible citizen.
Effective school counseling is a collaborative process involving school counselors, students, families, teachers, administrators, mental health therapists, other school staff, and education stakeholders.
School counselors are leaders and student advocates in the school, district, and state.
The Denison CSD Counseling Department will empower Denison graduates to be independent and productive members of a diverse and ever-changing world. Students will be well prepared to meet the challenges and high expectations of the 21st century.
