Knights of Columbus
Delphos Ray McKowen Council 1362
It is our intention to create a permanent archive section here on our website to record the 116+ year history of the Delphos Knights of Columbus Council 1362. The types of records we envision being housed here include:
Listings and photos of key organizational leaders. (Grand Knights, Chaplains, etc.)
Yearly records of contributions both collected and distributed and what important causes and people were assisted in the community and elsewhere.
Major milestones within the organization, such as anniversaries of founding celebrations, major improvements or advancements as well as to record unusual events.
A special area should be reserved for the recording of scholarships and as much detail of recipients with photos as can be responsibly recorded.
Timeline of these events would be helpful along with historical photos of the key places, people and events.
If you can be of assistance, both in the collection and presentation of the historical documents, photos, videos, etc. please let us know. We can be reached at:

During this past year we have had many successes thanks to the wholehearted efforts and cooperation of our membership. Special thanks goes to Don Gerdeman and his kitchen committee for the Chicken & Suds Dinners. Special thanks to our Ohio Charities co-chairmen Larry Luersman and Vern Kill and to all the Brother Knights who pushed the tickets. Special thanks to Brother Fred Ruan and his committee on the successful "Measure-Up" for the Mentally Retarded.
I have only singled out our three major successes for the year, but all Brother Knights are to be congratulated for whatever help they have given both morally and physically this past year.

Delphos KofC Fun Facts:
Being a member of the Delphos Knights of Columbus is a bargain!
Initiation fee to join the Delphos KofC in 1908 (year of our founding) was $25. That would be $807 in today's money.
Membership annual dues in 1908 were $12. That would be $387 today.
*Based on CPI Inflation CalculatorFundraising for the KofC used to be a competition.
Before World War II, the Delphos KofC used to split the roster into 2 teams (the Reds & the Purples) that competed with each other to see who could "sell the most tickets to events" or "collect the most donations". The winning team was given a party put on by the losers.
One of the first fundraisers on record for the Knights of Columbus was the raffling of an Oldsmobile that was purchased by the Council in 1919. Funds raised were used for the purchase of land for our first council home on the West side of Main St. between 1st and 2nd Streets.
