Reception of Bishop Walsh

On June 25, 2024, His Holiness Pope Francis announced the appointment of Bishop-Elect Dennis G. Walsh from the Diocese of Toledo (parish of Delphos St. John) as the new Bishop of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Davenport, Iowa.

Bishop Walsh was celebrant and Homilist at the St. John's 4:30pm Mass Saturday, November 16, 2024. A reception was held at the Knights of Columbus Hall following the service wishing him success and congratulating him.

Prayer for Bishop Dennis Walsh

O God, eternal shepherd of the faithful,
who tend your Church in countless ways
and rule over her in love,
grant, we pray, that Dennis, your servant,
whom you have set over your people,
may preside in the place of Christ
over the flock whose shepherd he is,
and be faithful as a teacher of doctrine,
a Priest of sacred worship
and as one who serves them by governing.
