Prezi is like a Slides or Powerpoint presentation on a roller coaster ride. The teacher and students present information on a slide by slide basis, but the slide can zoom in or out, turn left or right or even upside down. The viewer zooms across the workspace to create an exciting and engaging way to convey information. Teachers could use Prezis to deliver content or students can display learning by creating their own.
My Simple Show allows students to make, well, simple shows. Students create an engaging script and choose their graphics and My Simple Show takes care of the rest. The website has a paid service that offers many bells and whistles, but the free version is useful as well. This could be used in any subject area and is easy enough for 3rd grade and up to use. Bitmoji is an app and extension that creates an avatar and then gives that avatar several pictures with multiple sayings. Bitmojis can be used as profile pictures or images for slideshow presentations. The pictures are also fun to use in book snaps. The app does feature some less than appropriate sayings so this app is best used older students rather than young children.
Apple Pages and Keynote are two great presentation tools. Pages is a word processor with a large focus on creating engaging documents with a mix of text and images. Keynote is a slideshow creator and is very similar to PowerPoint and Google Slides. These are good tolls for students to use if they are working on an iPad or Mac.
Text Giraffe is a website that generates interesting word art instantly that is free to download. This would be a fun tool for students to use when learning vocabulary or parts of speech. Canva is a website and app that gives students and teachers the ability to create engaging posts to share to social media. This tool makes it easy to make any post professional looking. Teachers can use it for sharing information with parents or the public and students can use it to create neat and organized presentations or digital posters. Canva provides the user with many fonts, shapes, colors backgrounds, and templates to choose from.
Voice Record Pro is an audio recording app that takes your recordings and allows them to be exported in just about any way you can imagine. Many audio recorder apps offer you one or two export options for free and then have other options for a price. This app is completely free and will cover all your export needs. It can be used to record narration, fluency checks, music pass-offs, lessons, etc. The sample below was a 3rd grader reading kindergarten level books for kindergarten classes to access in centers.
