Isaac Rothman: The first Legend of the summer is a fair-skinned red-headed lad, they say there’s a passing resemblance, it’s true, he made me a Dad.  Of all the campers inducted as Legends, this one may be the hardest to believe, the last ten years truly flew, ten more and it’s our home he will leave (or pay rent).  He’s had the who’s who of staff, from Nancy to Mike and to Dank, for his growth as a camper and person it’s them that Rebecca and I’d like to thank.  Like his father he’s not shy, he sang Les Miz at Talent Show as a tike, now he gets his own sweatshirt, let’s welcome the Rothman nicknamed Ike.

Amadou Samb: The next Legend also started as a Flipper back in 2010, I remember meeting him at this tour, he was 3 foot nothing back then.  We’ve seen him in and out of camp, at some of our family birthdays, how he would grow in height and maturity each summer would certainly amaze.  He’s been a Flipper, Dolphin, Bison and Caribou, an Imperial, Okapi, Ram, Stag and Wildebeest it’s true.  But now he’s finally a Sub Boy a decade after he was new, he’s one of the nicest kids you’ll meet, he’s the Samb who goes by Amadou.

Ori Pinn: Our next STAR comes from the Senior Boys, in fact he’s the only one, he’s come a long way from the Bison where he started way back in year one.  He’s part of the Hoboken crew, always meeting at 2nd and Monroe, he’s become a huge fan of archery never mind photo and video. Along with a Bison, he’s been an Elk, Moose, Okapi, Stag, and Wildebeest, then a Yak for two years, a Sub and a Senior last but not least.  He deserves some noise tonight, in fact even a din, let’s all tip our caps to the one and only Ori Pinn.

Morgan Kolomer: She’s one of five representing the Senior Girls tonight, she has been to a decade’s worth of Deerkill Theme Nights.  She has a ton of interests, but especially music and dance, she’s always been a fan of the pool and swims whenever she has the chance.  I remember well when she first visited, her younger brother in tow, that she would be here 10 years later is amazing, how could any of us know?  One day maybe she’ll be a famous choreographer, but for now she’s all ours, let’s hear it for Morgan Kolomer.

Emily Lichtbraun: Next up is another Senior Girl who also has a brother here, she came to a tour for her brother on 2/28/2010 but then demanded to join him here.  She was a Dolphin with Brielle and Emma B, now a decade later they’re as close friends as friends can be.  She finally joins them in the club, though she had to wait a year, hopefully she stays another 10, we’re always so happy to see her.  You may know who I speak of, but don’t get too far ahead of me, let’s put our hands together for the Lichtbraun named Emily!

Laila Mustafa: Everyone knows the next inductee, in some ways she was legendary her first year, she always had a big beautiful smile and often even bigger hair.  She’s been with 8 different groups, she’s hit almost every one, one thing is clear if she’s in your group you’re going to have more fun.  Not only is she a good friend and a great personality on top, but she and her family have never met a pet they didn’t adopt.  Now she’s a real Legend, and for her we should throw a big gala, next to the stage is the famous Mustafa we all know as Laila.

Gabby Parness: The next up on stage follows her sister who was inducted in ’18, she followed her to Deerkill a year after she came on scene.  Her family are Deerkill lifers, sometimes they even come on weekends to enjoy, it seems like yesterday they toured when her bro was just a 2-year old boy.  She’s frequented Deerkill’s stage, and can always be found in the water, she can also name every character in every book about Harry Potter.  Seeing her become a Legend certainly fills me with lots of happiness, next up from our Senior Girls is none other than Gabby Parness.

Siobhan Ryan: The next Legend also reps the Senior Girls, that’s 50 years total they’ve seen the Hi-5 banner unfurled.  She’s been a Bambi, Gazelle, Llama, Oribi, and Sambar, then Wapiti, Zebra, Sub Girl, all Senior all that’s left is being a STAR.  She has always been a fan of gaga and plays whenever she has a chance, but when she’s not in the pit you might catch her up the stairs at dance.  Another wonderful camper, she’s sweet without even tryin’, welcome to the stage our newest Legend Siobhan Ryan.

Matthew Bartoszek: The next we’re to honor is actually one of four here at Deerkill, they’ve all come from Hoboken and climbed Happiness Hill.  His first year he was a Buck with Dan, of that there is no quarrel, and if you ever forget it you will quickly be reminded by Mr. Farrell.  It’s hard to believe he’s already a STAR, I knew him long before that, back in the day when he was just a boy and didn’t sport his daily winter hat.  We knew from a young age, that to Deerkill he surely would be true, let’s hear it for our STAR the Bartoszek named Matthew.

Danny Heuer: This next Legend to be named is called Dinger by Mr. Dank, up through the groups he did rise until he’s reached his STAR rank.  His camper profile interests are sports, sports, sports and more sports, he’s known for dominating every pit, field and court.  He’s spent every Quest playing basketball and missed Club several times but no fewer, let’s all jump up and down for our one and only Danny Heuer.

Josh Lichtbraun: Back in 2010, he and his sister started together, now they enter this exclusive club after 10 years of unpredictable weather.  Another of Farrell’s historic year of Bucks, he’s really a big sweetheart and his presence here is good luck.  He’s a football player, I believe he could be a big star, as long as he’s opposed by a person and not a monkey bar.  It would be wonderful to have him another decade by gosh, let’s clap loud enough for him to hear us, the Lichtbraun named Josh.

Xander Marin: The next Legend is a STAR after being another Buck back in 2010, it’s hard to believe 10 years it’s already been.  He’s a master builder, whether it be legos or minecraft blocks, what he knows of pro wrestling would certainly knock off your socks.  He may have the coolest name in camp, sounds like a z but it’s an x, Xander Marin is the Legend that we now welcome next.

Peter Martin: Another 2010 Buck, wow to have that group was some luck.  He’s a big biker in the city, though sometimes it’s Uber he’ll call, he’ll play every sport at camp, wherever there might be a ball.  He’s come every day from the city, uptown on the east side, for one decade of camp, to have him here still we are full of Deerkill pride. We’re so thrilled that for 9 years at camp he’s been a repeater, since now he’s reached his Legendary 10, the Martin we all know as Peter.

Erika Urano: This next Legend is another who makes me feel old, I recall well when she was just a Fawn with Vicky’s sister in 2010 if truth be told.  She’s always been crafty, she’s often there with others her age, if you can’t find her there it’s volleyball or the stage.  Let’s yell as loud as possible so it reaches all of America, for our last Legend camper today the Urano we all know as Erika.

STAFF

Stephanie Braziller: How many Legends we have this year you’re amazed, I can tell, but here’s one of two staff we’ll meet that our campers know so well.  Bet you didn’t know she started as a Wapiti with Nora, she’s grown so much while here, as a person and at nature with flora. She’s always got a smile and is the friendliest there is no doubt, let’s welcome staff Steph Braziller with a legendary shout!

Annie Porter: And now last but not least, we get to the final Legend of 2019, a club that deserves a royal feast.  As a staffer she tried her hand at Arts & Crafts before taking a course of Adventure, when she’s not there she and her crew of 4 can usually be found together.  Now, like her brother last year, let’s cheer loud and long, not shorter, for the next Legend to grace our stage our very own Annie Porter.

Nikki Hunt: The next to be honored, for those who've met her know a wall flower she is not, when you look up social butterfly in the dictionary, a picture of her is what you got. She started in the Summer Office and then moved to transportation, of course she had to cut back to a Sub after her impregnation.

Now she comes and visits and causes quite the riot, but it's not just her everyone yells for, it's her sweet little boy Eliot.  She started a decade ago and has grown up and got married in that time, instead of worrying about buses, she's now more focused on bedtime.  She and her successor Nicole, love each other and of course that mouse named Mickey, but more fun than anything at Disney, is the Hunt we all know as Nikki.

2nd Session Legends

Francesca Grossberg: Our first second session Legend started as a Bambi in 2010, she’s been a Fawn, Impala, Nyala, Royal, Wapiti, Zebra, Sub and Senior since then.  She’s ridden the bus every day from the Upper West Side, since 2013 with her brother by her side.  She’s a swimmer and loves the tower, she’s often on the course, I’m pretty sure when we had it she used to ride a horse.  She’s always fun and refreshing, sort of like a Fresca, our first Legend today is the Grossberg named Francesca.

Sophia Noriega: Second up is also a big sister with a younger sibling here too, coming from Dumont to Deerkill every day she’s been on the bus more than most of you.  She’s a softball player extraordinaire, her swing is as smooth as silk, it’s clear she’s benefited from years at camp between the instruction and the MILK.  Now ten years in she’s a true Legend and could be a star un dia, let’s put our hands together for the Noriega named Sophia.

Carly Jefferson: Next on tap to join the club cannot have been here a decade, I still remembering touring her and it was quite an impression she made.  She started with the Does with Alissa, Shannon and Becky, little did we know she’d stick around, boy were we so lucky!  She’s always smiling, whether in the pool or on the tennis court, she’s everybody’s friend and now a true STAR, for her camper groups she’s certainly the inspiring sort.  Now she’s Movin On Up to the Legend Side, I know that’s pretty gnarly, our newest Legend is the one and only Jefferson we know as Carly.

Alana Edson: Our last inductee today joined us late this year, but of course she had to come, for she knew (as I heard) that a Legend she was to become.  She started late as a camper too, with the Wapiti and Becky and Juliette, I’m sure when she started she couldn’t imagine being here a decade I would bet.  Since then she’s been a camper, STAR and a staff with the Oribi, Harts, and more, when she subs for a group they jump up and down, it makes their day for sure.   So now we welcome her to The Club, let’s all give her our attention, congratulations to the energetic and fun Ms. Alana Edson.

Emmett Greer: Our second to last Legend of 2019, is, it’s hard to believe, nearly a teen.  He started as a FLIPPER, with Nancy by his side, rode the bus with the Bartoszeks for literally hundreds of round-trip rides.  One of his favorite pastimes is to climb, whether it’s a tower, tree or other, now he has finally reached Legendary status, just 2 years after his brother.  He’s here today representing the one and only Senior Boys, Emmett Greer your time has come, for you we’ll make some noise.

Daniel Martinez: The last camper Legend of 2019 is also a Senior Boy, he started in 2010 in the Caribou with Tom Conroy.  Since then he’s been an Elk, Moose, Ram, and Wildebeest, Yak and Sub twice and a Senior last but not least.  Another fan of heights, he’s an Adventure Course aficionado, in fact the only Quest he’s had since 2017 is climbing Deerkillimanjaro.  For him it’s been a long wait, for most it’s frankly too long to handle, but he had his eyes on the green sweatshirt, he’s a Legend the Martinez we know as Daniel.
