Max Swanson: I knew our first camper Legend before he even started at Deerkill.  Now, he’s ready to join this exclusive club.  He’s the youngest member of our entering class, and started at camp as a Flipper, then Dolphin, Bison, Elk, Moose, Ram, Wildebeest, Yak x 2 and finally a Subsenior Boy which he now represents.  He’s a Legend now, that’s a fact, let’s hear it for the Swanson named Max!

Michael Medeiros: Next up has been on our website home page for seven years and is the only entering member of the Senior Boys.  He’s also traveled far and wide through our boys groups since I first met him at the age of 4.  His haircut hasn’t changed but his basketball game has.  He’s now one of our Legend heroes, come on up Michael Medeiros!

Cesar Alarcon: The next four members of this illustrious Legends crews are STAR, starting with one who shares a name with a general and a salad.  He’s scored so many goals in soccer over his years here, I should charge him for the many nets I’ve had to replace.  One of the most congenial guys around, let’s put our hands together for Cesar Alarcon.

Sophie Axtens: Next up was one of our first Weehawken campers, way before there was even a Weehawken bus.  She started as a Fawn, then Gazelle, Oribi, Royal, Wapiti, Sub Girl, and Senior Girl.  Of course those campers who’ve had her in their groups so far, know that Sophie Axtens is truly a STAR!

Amy Greenberg: I remember when the next STAR started camp, she was only 4.  Her first year was in the Bambis, who knew there’d be 9 more.  She’s very sweet and loves Deerkill, that is certainly true.  She loves it so much that you’ll be hard-pressed to find a weekend when she’s not here too.  Adding to the Greenberg Legends Club, let’s hear it for Amy!

Sasha Lachter: Our last STAR to meet, you see her name each day.  Three times (3!!!) she’s won the Gaga Games, a record achievement that is unbelievable I must say.  But gaga is just a hobby, soccer is more her sport, frankly I think she’d beat most of our staff on any field or court.  Her talents are many but she also has great tact sir, our next Legend is none other than Sasha Lachter!

Judy Bruno: Moving on to our staff Legends, as we said earlier today, this next Legend also earned her High 5 today.  She knew Rebecca when she had braces and Alan when he had hair and the biggest game around was Uno.  I’m talking of course about Judy Bruno!

Jonah Caro: Next up as a Legend started as a Caribou when Mike Litt ran the group (we didn’t have Imperials then).  He was part of the first ever Caribou Casino and has been a highlight of every Talent Show since with his trusty violin in tow; we’re so lucky to have him as part of our Tech Lab now.  And if you young kids stay on the straight and narrow, you too could be a Legend, like our Jonah Caro.

Ella and Julian Fuchsberg: Next we have two siblings, one who also knew the Caribou well while the other was a Gazelle.  They’ve come from the city, midtown on the east side, for one decade of camp, they are full of Deerkill pride.  Now they enter this exclusive club together, for they’ve been through ten years of heat, humidity and sometimes rainy weather.  You’ll find them in the Nyalas and in Ceramics I have heard, introducing Ella and Julian Fuchsberg!

Samantha Gibson: How many Legends we have this year you’re amazed, I can tell; but there’s only one we’ll meet that our Dolphins know so well.  She also started as a Gazelle back in 2008, who would’ve known the Legends were her fate.  She’s named after a guitar, so of course she’ll go far, you don’t know of whom I speak, I’ll give you a little tip son, here is the next Legend let’s all cheer for Samantha Gibson!

Jeremy Sanchez: Next up tonight started as a Moose, he and his mother rode the first bus from Hoboken before we even heard of a Huss.  The last few years he’s ventured from the Bison to the Video and Photo hut, if you ask of how much he cares, the case is open and shut.  You may know who we speak of, but don’t get too far ahead of me, let’s put our hands together for the Sanchez we call Jeremy!

Henry and Oliver Schoenfeld: Well, these next two guys have been Legends all along, their myths and achievements were spread far and wide all they needed was a song.  They started with us as Wildebeests under of course Josh Dank, they’re big guys now but truth be told they were always built like a tank.  Nora has watched over them having first welcomed them on the bus daily, now one’s a star on the softball team and the other is stuck on Kaylee.  Let’s celebrate, let’s party, together we will holler, for the two Schoenfeld twins we know as Henry and Oliver.

Sam Spector: Ah, next on the list, I can’t believe he’s been here for a decade, I still remember meeting him in Hoboken over some cookies and lemonade.  Here at Deerkill we do our best to care for campers and nourish, but we’re most proud when campers like him really grow up and flourish.  We always told his parents that even though he was too cool for school, we knew he’d be a leader which he is now by the pool.  Who knows, maybe one day he’ll even be a Director, for now let’s meet the next Legend, Mr. Sam Spector.

Nancy Titlebaum: This next Legend to be introduced is near and dear to my heart, for both my sons and now my daughter with her they did start.  There was no Flippers group before she came, she’s led them all along, whether eating or wiping or walking or talking or even leading a song.  Her distinctive call can be heard all around camp, they follow her like she’s the Pied Piper, she always helps them find the way whether they’re nice and calm or hyper.  All our campers start in her group and her assistants always love her, years later they will have their own kids and will no doubt apply the lessons learned from her.  She’s so amazing at what she does, I feel like doing a dancy, I’m so proud to introduce the next Legend, come on up Nancy!

Deloris Caro: Finally, we have a Legend that truly has earned that title, she’s always buzzing around the office and never sitting idle.  She should get two plaques on the wall for dealing with me, and all my many requests, she just looks at me and smiles and says “I’ll do my best.” Talk about organization, she’s got me beat, I think her pencils even have names, every day at 5 PM her desk looks exactly the same.  She is the sweetest person I know, it’s rare that she gets mad, her face always gets brighter when talking about her dog, husband and lad.  It all started with an innocent email, we needed some help through the year, now it’s impossible to imagine our camp without her there.  So Deloris, to you, Jennifer and the rest of the crew, we owe everything it’s true, but a Legend is simply a title, to us you’re so much more thank you for all that you do.  Please stand up for the person who makes sure you all get enrolled, Deloris Caro!

Owen Greer: I met our first camper Legend when he was 4 years old.  Now, he’s ready to join this exclusive club.  He started at camp as a Dolphin, then Antelope, Caribou, Imperial, Okapi, Ram, Wildebeest, Yak and finally a Subsenior Boy twice, a group which he now represents.  Let it be known, very far and very near, a new Legend has come and his name’s Owen Greer.

Ben Rhodes-Kropf: Now the next Legend up, I knew since birth (his, not mine).  From early on it was apparent he would be a legend with a small “l” you see, who could imagine a Deerkill Legend with a big “L” he would also be?  He’s done everything at camp though tennis is his game, this kid is so special, he even has two last names.  It’s true he’s family, and of him I’m so proud, but more importantly this is his 10th summer so let’s hear it from the crowd.  Ben Rhodes-Kropf.

Toby Harrison: Another Hoboken Legend, who started ten years ago, that’s a lot of hour-long bus rides between home and camp he’d go.  He’s our 2nd Senior Boy, I’m sure he’s on pins and needles, a hint is that he shares his last name with one of the members of the Beatles.  He had an older brother who didn’t quite make it ten years here, now he will be filled with envy at the sweatshirt this brother will wear.  “We Are All Made Of Stars” appropriately was sung by Moby, let’s make way for this star and now Legend, a Harrison named Toby.

Mallory Sims: And now last but not least, we get to the final Legend of 2017, a club that deserves a royal feast.  She is our only Senior Girls camper to become a Hall of Famer, her last name is very popular among early 2000’s gamers.  Another who started in our Dolphins, she’s been through it all, and now among this year’s Legends, she’ll be the last name to be called.  She’s super sweet and perhaps one day here she’ll earn a salary, let’s all give it up for our Sims we call Mallory!
