Fun Forest Friday

In this fantastic program, 7th grade and Kindergarten students spend Friday afternoons exploring nature together. This collaboration gives leadership opportunities to our middle school students and provides kindergarteners with a partner with which they can discover the natural world within our backyards. Seasonal topics change biweekly so that students have opportunities to learn, play and celebrate many different science topics. Life Science, Earth Science, Space Science, Physical Science and Engineering science applications are all addressed within the collaborative curriculum. But don’t be fooled by all the hidden standards, we have FUN!

Dressing for outdoor weather is the most important factor to ensure student success with this program. Layers, proper shoes and outerwear for your student to keep at school (or bring in every Friday) is essential so that they are not thinking about their cold toes, but rather on the science behind why leaves change color. We do go outside, even if there is a drizzle of rain. We are not scared of rain, and we sure love splashing in puddles!
