AI has made huge advancements in the last few years, and its progress has been rapidly accelerating since its first conception in 1956. Many people have an outdated view of AI, and some overestimate it. AI is very strong in some situations, but it faces many different challenges than conventional learning. The main problems that scientists have encountered so far are that we need to find ways to teach AI, and we need hardware to contain it.
It is not a question of whether or not we should go forward with AI technology, but how. Throughout history, many technological advances have been opposed by the workforce, from mechanical looms to factory automation. It is happening again, and it can't be stopped. Computers have gone from boxes that take up whole rooms, to small, light fold-ups. They will keep changing, and will massively change our lives. That change will have huge benefits, but also huge consequences that we need to prepare for.
